Why is duplicate not working in Blender?

 The issue, when hitting Shift + D, the duplicate doesn't work.

The solution, click on the object, either in the 3D Viewport or the Outliner, then hover the mouse cursor to the 3D Viewport, then hit Shift + D again.

You will see the object being cloned.
